The ’69 Rally is progressing, although I had to take time remove the fuel tank from the 99 Turbo as it started to smell of fuel. So no more fuel tank in the Turbo.
Removing the fuel tank from the 99 Turbo.
Here’s a little progress report on the V4 Rally:
Assembling the clutch
We put in spacer rings under the springs to make the clutch stiffer.
Other than that – just a normal V4 clutch. We shall see how it holds. There’s no difflock so it just might hold.
Installing the semi-lightened flywheel.
New bolts to secure the clutch assembly.
Water pump
I painted the block Ford blue(ish), as it should be in a 1969 V4.
Installing the water pump – new gaskets.
Some gasket glue for the water pump.
Water pump installed.
A little silver paint for the water pipes.
Installing the engine
Putting the block in the car.
Block in car – with the mexico brackets.
And as a side note – we soldered the fuel connections to the gas tank flange.
Starting to look like a rally car
Hello
What paint did you use to paint the engine (manufacturer, heat-resistant, what lacquer code)?
Best regards
Hello Robert!
It was just some general metal paint. Not color correct Ford blue and not really heat resistant.
Best regards,
Tommi
