Painting bonnet and the hatch – didn’t go as planned
Second time lucky - looking pretty good.
Well it doesn’t always go as planned. I proceeded to paint the bonnet and the rear hatch and other smaller pieces. Unfortunately some contamination from painters tape got on the bonnet and the hatch so there was pretty much no other options than to wash it all away and start fresh. Thankfully I noticed the problems after the base coat and had not yet sprayed on any clear.
The painting seemed to go fine but then I noticed that there was streaking on the bonnet and the hatch. It was because of some glue transfer from painters tape. The cleaner I used to wipe the panels didn’t remove the glue remains.
Not a whole lot to do than to wash away the basecoat.
A fresh start.

Both the hatches worked out this time also.
I also painted all the nuts and bolts I could find.
Let’s hope I didn’t forget any of the small stuff…

I tied the hood springs to an old seat frame to spread them open.
