New endcap being cleaned. Ofcourse this means that all the endcap spacer rings need to be fitted all over again.
I have ordered the pistons and should get them in about a week or two. So for now it’s just doing all the minor things that still need doing.
We inspected the gearbox – a few little things to fix, but nothing major it seems:
Inspecting the gearbox revealed no major problems.
One issue was that the gearbox rear attachment point was broken. I didn’t want to trust it holding so I decided to change the whole endcap.

Freewheel was locked in the off-position.
The regular V4 freewheel was installed as it will not take any forces, because it’s locked in the off-position. If I wanted to use freewheel, then a two-stroke 6 roll unit would be needed (the V4 freewheel is too weak).
Some wear on the pressure bearing fork. Needs a little welding and drilling.
And I decided to install the Works-style backup lights. I found two of the worst shortnose directional lights I could find and made a few modifications:
The two-stroke lights were corroded useless, so I replaced the original bulbs with Saab 900 side indicators (with the orange cover removed).
A pair of backup lights – done.
I measured the correct spot and made the installation holes.
Backup lights done. Lookin pretty nice when it’s all done.
