It was a very nice sunny day today – a prefect day for taking the two-stroke for a little drive… Here’s some video:

A little luck goes a long way…
So, the 1964 got registered and I’ve been taking it for a some rides the past few days. There’s been a few hicups which were pretty much expected – it is after all an almost 50 year old car and last saw the open roads in 1976! But I did have one really annoying problem… Continue reading A little luck goes a long way…
Part 77. Saab 96 1964 on the road again…
The 1964 two stroke is finally on the road again for the first time since 1976! I got it inspected and registered today. The inspection itself was passed with flying colours, but there was a few hicups to sort before it:
National Classic Car Day 2012 Finland – Saab 95 1961
A fellow Saab Club member Vesa brought in his 1961 two stroke Saab 95 Wagon – a seven seater. The car is in original unrestored condition except for some touch up paint in the engine room. Very nice patina for a 50+ year old Saab! Vesa has owned the car for several years waiting for… Continue reading National Classic Car Day 2012 Finland – Saab 95 1961
Classic Motor Show 2012
I participated in the Classic Motor Show at Lahti as part of the saabworks.fi team. Here’s a short reportage with photos: The show was just great. I talked to so many people I almost lost my voice towards Sunday evening. Learnt a lot too – there’s still many many people in Finland that just keep… Continue reading Classic Motor Show 2012
Pertronix breakerless ignition for the two stroke
Niklas Enander from www.classicsaabracing.com had a little boutique at the IntSaab2011 event selling various performance parts for the two stroke and V4. I decided to buy the Pertronix breakerless ignition kit for the two stroke just to minimize any ignition problems and improve reliability. There’s two versions of the kit for two strokes – one… Continue reading Pertronix breakerless ignition for the two stroke
Saab two stroke head milling
I just stumbled upon the “donneysaab” channel – apparently Tom Donney of Tom Donney Motors – on Youtube. The channel has a few quite interesting Saab videos. Check these out: Saab two stroke head milling. How to properly relieve the Saab two stroke head for over sized pistons or to restore the correct “crush area”… Continue reading Saab two stroke head milling
Part 76. I’ll bring the two stroke to IntSaab2011…
… But it will not be ready. Unfortunately I have not been able to work on the car during the summer, so it will not be finished in time for IntSaab. But I will bring it on a trailer anyway. It is in running condition though – we managed to sort most of the problems… Continue reading Part 76. I’ll bring the two stroke to IntSaab2011…
Part 75. Electrics sorted out
I finally got all the electrics sorted out. The car has combined wire harnesses from 1964 (engine), 1966 (cabin) and V4 (rear), so there was a little bit of figuring out what connects where and which wires are not needed… But it’s all working now: Front parking lights. Rear end is close to finished. Stone… Continue reading Part 75. Electrics sorted out
Part 74. More 1964 two stroke assembly
Some progress on the two stroke again. I managed to get a Saab 95 front window rubber from a fellow Saabclub member and the old rear window rubber was only cracked at couple places so it was used as such. Rear fenders are in place. The rubber strip between body and the fenders is thicker… Continue reading Part 74. More 1964 two stroke assembly
