Cardinal Red basecoat has a matte/satin sheen to it when dry.
Time to move on to the doors. The major decision here was if I wanted to paint the doors upright or laying flat. Laying flat would be easier but if they were upright the paint would settle down the same way it would on the sides of the car. I decided to paint the upright and in one go. So no masking here – just laying on the paint and clear.
I washed the doors thoroughly and let them dry. Then I wiped them down with paint thinner and three times with special cleaner suitable for waterborne paint.
Both doors were painted at the same time and hanging upright.
One of the downsides of home booths is inadequate airflow..
It can be surprisingly difficult to get paint into all the nooks and crannies around the hinges without getting runs.

Time for clearcoat.
All in all I’m pretty happy with how the doors came out. There is some orange peel here and there but it should be relatively easily fixed.
