Part 66. First start!
We finally got the engine running today! Nice feeling even though we had a bunch problems. The good news was that there was only one coolant leak and no fuel leaks. But we had a faulty ignition coil, a clogged fuel pump and a couple of clogged carburettor jets… Here’s a clip: And some photos:
Part 64. More work on doors and fenders
The past summer was pretty much a total loss projectwise. I had absolutely no time to work on the car beacause of some other things happening. A few updates though: The engine cover got cleaned up primed. And the fenders And the doors
Saab 96 Sport
I had a strange phone call in June. The caller identified himself as Kari Mäkelä from Mäkela Auto Tuning (www.mat.fi). MAT is a well known specialist in restoring old works rally cars and classic Ferraris and Mr. Mäkelä is the owner. So, naturally, I was a little surprised about the call – what would anyone… Continue reading Saab 96 Sport
Part 63. Electrics – a quick update

And ofcourse there was no spare for it. I asked around the Saabclub forum for a spare, but only got one offer (which was… Continue reading Part 62. Brakes, windows, exhaust, …

Turbo clutch job
The turbo needed to have it’s clutch changed. The first order of business was to make some room: In the turbo there’s a bit of intake tubes and hoses to remove… The clutch assembly and the slave cylinder were pretty much shot. No wonder the clutch felt crap: To remove the housing the splines need… Continue reading Turbo clutch job
Part 61. Wheel angles
The Stroker front wheel angles needed some adjustment because we had a couple of problems that needed to be sorted sooner rather than later. (Ofcourse I will have the angles better adjusted later.) Both wheels had a huge positive camper (the top of the wheel is farther out than the bottom) which caused two problems:… Continue reading Part 61. Wheel angles
