We had the yearly Saab Club spring event yesterday in Jyväskylä. I didn’t have too much time to stay so I only took a few photos. But, all-in-all a nice round trip of around 300 kilometers in the Turbo was very nice after the winter break.

Part 60. Electric fan for the stroker
We installed an electric fan for the ’64 today. We found a small enough unit from some Huyndai. Making the brackets was pretty easy and we put some mounting rubbers between the fan and body to minimize noise and to reduce vibrations. We were able to make the installation so we used existing holes. So… Continue reading Part 60. Electric fan for the stroker
Brake master cylinder replaced
Time to get the Saab 900 T8 Special out of the garage (it hasn’t been driven in 6 months…). There’s a Saab Club spring event a week from now so I need to fix a few things and get it on the road: I had to change the brake master cylinder. I got a good… Continue reading Brake master cylinder replaced
Part 58. Making brakelines
Since all the brake parts on the car are new we decided to go for new lines also. So, new piping all the way through: New lines, but they have no flaring or nuts yet. Flaring tools – look complicated but actually very easy to use. First the end of the line is cleaned with… Continue reading Part 58. Making brakelines
Part 57. Rear brakes
A bit more about the rear brakes: Pretty much “everything” new here (piston, shoes)… (Oops! As “Saab 95” reminded in the comments – the springs are on the wrong side of the shoes in the photo… They have to be on the inside! I remembered it as I put the hub on – installed this… Continue reading Part 57. Rear brakes
Part 56. Miscellaneous
Ah, the snow 🙂 – – – – The brake lines are almost done (new lines and hoses all round). Although I’m still waiting for the front brake hoses from Sweden – they should be here in two weeks time. I decided to fix the fuel pump. It looked like a mouse had made a… Continue reading Part 56. Miscellaneous
Part 55. Alternator, temperature gauge, wiper motor & heater fan
Fitting the Saab 99 alternator took a little effort. None of the mounts were directly usable so we had to make a new lower one and modify the top one: The lower mount was too far back so we made a new one that moved the alternator forward about 5 centimeters to line up the… Continue reading Part 55. Alternator, temperature gauge, wiper motor & heater fan
Part 54. Steering column & misc.
I found some nice parts for a V4. I think they will go to the 95 when it’s time. A 1.7 crankshaft and NOS timing gears. I got both at a very very reasonable price, so ofcourse I had to have them… 😀 Also, new front fenders for a V4. I decided it’s quite enough… Continue reading Part 54. Steering column & misc.
Preparing for winter
Not much happening currently – the winter is here! They promised a snow storm for this evening, so I had to go and make some room in the garage for the B105. I don’t want to leave it outside for the winter. So, a short clip about that: And as I was there anyways I… Continue reading Preparing for winter
Part 53. Miscellaneous
The heater blades now have new “arms” for the cables. They were made from brass tube and steel rods that were soldered together and then glued to the blades. Works really well and was actually pretty easy to do. A little something about the wheels: The front suspension is now pretty much assembled. The driveshafts… Continue reading Part 53. Miscellaneous
