Egill from Island sent me these photos. He owned one of the two 1966 Saab 96 Monte Carlos imported to Iceland that year as new. Now, years later he has been able to track down and purchase both cars! The plan is to completely restore at least one of them, maybe both. Egill contacted me… Continue reading 1966 Saab 96 Monte Carlos in Iceland

Part 68. Two Stroke fumes…
I finally have some time to work on the Saab 96 two stroke project again. So here’s a short proggress report. The project is now driveable… 🙂 Check the video: And a few photos of some parts getting the primer…and some sound insulation has been put in also.
Part 67. Running better
Still no time to focus on the project – but here’s a little update on the car: After the first start we had some issues… Some of the carburettors were pretty clogged up, so the fuel flow was insufficient at times. The carburettors removed from the car. Pretty dirty looking setup… Time to take them… Continue reading Part 67. Running better
Part 66. First start!
We finally got the engine running today! Nice feeling even though we had a bunch problems. The good news was that there was only one coolant leak and no fuel leaks. But we had a faulty ignition coil, a clogged fuel pump and a couple of clogged carburettor jets… Here’s a clip: And some photos:
Part 64. More work on doors and fenders
The past summer was pretty much a total loss projectwise. I had absolutely no time to work on the car beacause of some other things happening. A few updates though: The engine cover got cleaned up primed. And the fenders And the doors
Saab 96 Sport

A few photos: The fan sensor is now connected to the fan (through a relay and a… Continue reading Part 63. Electrics – a quick update
Part 62. Brakes, windows, exhaust, …
A few updates on the project – We finally finished the brakes! We put in the brake fluid but soon noticed that the original plastic brake fluid reservoir had a leak! And ofcourse there was no spare for it. I asked around the Saabclub forum for a spare, but only got one offer (which was… Continue reading Part 62. Brakes, windows, exhaust, …

Part 61. Wheel angles
The Stroker front wheel angles needed some adjustment because we had a couple of problems that needed to be sorted sooner rather than later. (Ofcourse I will have the angles better adjusted later.) Both wheels had a huge positive camper (the top of the wheel is farther out than the bottom) which caused two problems:… Continue reading Part 61. Wheel angles
