We got the exhaust system done. It’s been strengthened and also some protective plates added to places that are going to be hit by gravel and stones from the front wheels. The next order of business is putting the car on its wheels and move on to the interior and engine. Mounting points: Putting the… Continue reading Saab V4 Rally – working on the exhaust system, done!

Saab V4 Rally – working on the exhaust system
We started to make the exhaust system as it is much easier to do now that the car is still suspended on the “grill”. After we get it done it’s time put in rest of the suspension, drop the car on it’s wheels, and start putting stuff in (like the dash, heating, etc.). The exhaust… Continue reading Saab V4 Rally – working on the exhaust system
Saab V4 Rally – More paint
Painted a few more bits and pieces:
Saab V4 Rally – Some new paint
The V4 “Rally” is proggressing at a more or less steady pace. I got around to painting a few bits and pieces. The paint scheme is pretty close to the one the car had in the early seventies when racing.
Saab-Club Of Finland track day with Simo Lampinen – video

There were some rally legends present, such as Simo Lampinen, Jyrki Ahava, Juhani Markkanen, Eikka Malm and Antti Mäkeläinen. Saab 96 Rally – Fitting the roll cage and painting the interior
I have not had too much time to work on the 96 “Rally”, but there is some progress. The rollcage was test fitted. Coming from a different Saab 96 it was not a straightforward bolt-on, but took some hammering, drilling, and welding… But all in all it went in easier than I thought it would.… Continue reading Saab 96 Rally – Fitting the roll cage and painting the interior
Saab 96 V4 1700S 1974
Here’s one of the more rare Saab 96 models I saw at the Saab Festival – Saab 96 1700S. The info card on the car said there was only 83 Saab 1700S made in 1974 and 1975. But in a Klassiker magazine I have it is stated that between 120 to 150 were made. Anyhow… Continue reading Saab 96 V4 1700S 1974
Lockheed brake master cylinder, V4 corrosion repair, two stroke fuel lines
Just a little update. I promised to do some welding on a V4. The corrosion was worse than it looked (as it always is) but we got it done. I have also been collecting parts to fix the fuel issues with the two-stroke. And I started to fix the Lockheed brake master cylinder of the… Continue reading Lockheed brake master cylinder, V4 corrosion repair, two stroke fuel lines

Saab 96 Rally 1969 – project advancing
The 1969 Saab 96 V4 “Rally” I bought a few years back (is it that long already…?) is advancing. The corrosion repairs are underway again. The car is in bad shape and many of the original pieces are missing – like the original engine and gearbox for example. I have a spare engine, a 1.7… Continue reading Saab 96 Rally 1969 – project advancing
