The past summer was pretty much a total loss projectwise. I had absolutely no time to work on the car beacause of some other things happening. A few updates though: The engine cover got cleaned up primed. And the fenders And the doors

Part 63. Electrics – a quick update
Just a quick update: We got the cabin and enginebay electrics mostly sorted last weekend. Starter works, fan works, lights work, wipers work etc. There’s still a few little issues to sort but mainly things are looking ok. A few photos: The fan sensor is now connected to the fan (through a relay and a… Continue reading Part 63. Electrics – a quick update
Part 62. Brakes, windows, exhaust, …
A few updates on the project – We finally finished the brakes! We put in the brake fluid but soon noticed that the original plastic brake fluid reservoir had a leak! And ofcourse there was no spare for it. I asked around the Saabclub forum for a spare, but only got one offer (which was… Continue reading Part 62. Brakes, windows, exhaust, …
Part 61. Wheel angles
The Stroker front wheel angles needed some adjustment because we had a couple of problems that needed to be sorted sooner rather than later. (Ofcourse I will have the angles better adjusted later.) Both wheels had a huge positive camper (the top of the wheel is farther out than the bottom) which caused two problems:… Continue reading Part 61. Wheel angles
Part 60. Electric fan for the stroker
We installed an electric fan for the ’64 today. We found a small enough unit from some Huyndai. Making the brackets was pretty easy and we put some mounting rubbers between the fan and body to minimize noise and to reduce vibrations. We were able to make the installation so we used existing holes. So… Continue reading Part 60. Electric fan for the stroker
Part 59. An adapter for the water hose
The water hoses on the car require quite a lot of tinkering, since there are no hoses that would fit directly. Here’s a few pics of an adapter that allows two 18mm hoses to connect to a 32 mm hose: The hoses are needed to transport water from the radiator to the water pump so… Continue reading Part 59. An adapter for the water hose
Part 58. Making brakelines
Since all the brake parts on the car are new we decided to go for new lines also. So, new piping all the way through: New lines, but they have no flaring or nuts yet. Flaring tools – look complicated but actually very easy to use. First the end of the line is cleaned with… Continue reading Part 58. Making brakelines
Part 57. Rear brakes
A bit more about the rear brakes: Pretty much “everything” new here (piston, shoes)… (Oops! As “Saab 95” reminded in the comments – the springs are on the wrong side of the shoes in the photo… They have to be on the inside! I remembered it as I put the hub on – installed this… Continue reading Part 57. Rear brakes
Part 56. Miscellaneous
Ah, the snow 🙂 – – – – The brake lines are almost done (new lines and hoses all round). Although I’m still waiting for the front brake hoses from Sweden – they should be here in two weeks time. I decided to fix the fuel pump. It looked like a mouse had made a… Continue reading Part 56. Miscellaneous
Part 55. Alternator, temperature gauge, wiper motor & heater fan
Fitting the Saab 99 alternator took a little effort. None of the mounts were directly usable so we had to make a new lower one and modify the top one: The lower mount was too far back so we made a new one that moved the alternator forward about 5 centimeters to line up the… Continue reading Part 55.
