Saab V4 Rally – Some new paint
The V4 “Rally” is proggressing at a more or less steady pace. I got around to painting a few bits and pieces. The paint scheme is pretty close to the one the car had in the early seventies when racing.
Saab-Club Of Finland track day with Simo Lampinen – video
The Saab-Club Of Finland organized the customary end-of-summer track day at Ahvenisto Race Circuit in Hämeenlinna today. There were some rally legends present, such as Simo Lampinen, Jyrki Ahava, Juhani Markkanen, Eikka Malm and Antti Mäkeläinen. Simo drove a two-stroke Saab Monte-Carlo and a Saab 96 V4 hill climb / rallycross car. The second half… Continue reading Saab-Club Of Finland track day with Simo Lampinen – video
Saab 9000 Turbo M prototype
I have written previously about the Saab 900 Turbo M racing series here in Finland: http://www.saabisti.fi/miscellanea/rare-saabs-the-finnish-specials/ (end of the page) And there’s also the post on Saabworks.fi with some more photos: http://www.saabworks.fi/car/saab-900-merkkiluokka/ The Turbo M racing series was quite popular back in the eighties. There were about 45 cars made in total (according to some… Continue reading Saab 9000 Turbo M prototype

96 Rally – Mexico brackets and some paint
We made a little progress on the 96 “Rally” over the weekend. We needed to fit an engine block and gearbox to make the so-called Mexico brackets for extra support. I also modified the dash by cutting away the corners, to make it fit behind the vertical rollcage tubes. And I painted a few bits… Continue reading 96 Rally – Mexico brackets and some paint
Triboron nano boron two-stroke lubricant
This is a semi-sponsored story in the sense that I got a free sample of the Triboron 2-takts koncentrat on the condition that I would test it and write about it in my blog. But I also think that this is something that would interest other two-stroke enthusiasts. Triboron is a Swedish company and had… Continue reading Triboron nano boron two-stroke lubricant
Saab 96 Rally – Fitting the roll cage and painting the interior
I have not had too much time to work on the 96 “Rally”, but there is some progress. The rollcage was test fitted. Coming from a different Saab 96 it was not a straightforward bolt-on, but took some hammering, drilling, and welding… But all in all it went in easier than I thought it would.… Continue reading Saab 96 Rally – Fitting the roll cage and painting the interior
96 Rally body work done
Well, it took a few weeks but the ’69 Rally car body work is done – or rather the rust repairs. There’s still modifications to be done. That car had a LOT more rust than I thought… I think the welding cost me almost 200 € in Mison gas alone… 😀 Some photos: So –… Continue reading 96 Rally body work done
Airflow and suspension issues – two stroke
While we were driving in Sweden the two-stroke was having some overheating issues because of the very warm weather …and due to the fact that we were blasting “full speed” on the highways for several hours on one sitting. I could maintain a speed of about 100 km/h, but anything over that I had to… Continue reading Airflow and suspension issues – two stroke
